Our villas by the beach

Loved taking showers al fresco! There are two main advantages:
- No fogging up of windows
- We could look up and see the sun or the moon

Touching in Fidji
Don't think we've ever been in a culture that allows or tolerates so much good-humoured touching! Practically everybody, male of female will touch you to show affection, or approval. We were pleasantly surprised that the waiters would spontaneously touch our daughter's hair, ask questions, sit down with us at our table, etc. After a few days, they would call us by our names, joke with us, tell us about their village, and often they would reinforce a point by touching us lightly, or even hugging us. We never felt invaded, or offended, it was always done in good spirits, and we saw that they did it constantly among themselves too. It made us feel more at ease, not so distant from them, as it could have been given the client-employee situation. We even saw this lady below (pregnant, we would ask her questions about her belly, the upcoming ultrasound, we would touch her tummy ourselves) slap the derrière of a fellow employee, a manager as it turned out! It was a small thing, part of a conversation, nothing sexual or heavy about it. Can you imagine such a thing in Canada, or almost anywhere else on the planet? I cannot.

| The lovely (and funny) cleaning lady for our villas. She told us that she came from another, nearby island, and that after having three girls, she and her husband really wanted a little boy. She is 4 months pregnant. We travelled together on the same boat that took us back to Nadi |

Diving
There are several good diving sites around the island. This one is within site of the resort.
